Home favourite Zverev takes Munich title
Pella faced a tall order on the clay in Munich against the six-foot, six-inch Zverev, a player 138 places above him in the rankings.
And although the Argentinian grabbed the early initiative on Sunday, breaking in the opening game of the match, Zverev hit back to triumph 6-4 6-3 on home soil.
Pella was left to rue his failure to convert two break points when he led 4-2 in the first set.
Zverev duly pulled level and broke again at the next time of asking to take the opener.
When the 20-year-old third seed enjoyed further success on the Pella serve at the start of set two, the outcome was inevitable and Zverev soon wrapped up his second title of 2017.
